On the Energy of Deformation of an Elastic Solid.

In the theory of elasticity as at present accepted' it is assumed that the energy of deformation is a function of the strain components and the various types of crystalline media are distinguished from one another and from an isotropic medium by the form of this function. It is the object of the present note to show that the mere assumption that the energy of deformation is a function of the st...

Propagation in an elastic wedge using the virtual source technique.

The virtual source technique, which is based on the boundary integral method, provides the means to impose boundary conditions on arbitrarily shaped boundaries by replacing them by a collection of sources whose amplitudes are determined from the boundary conditions. In this paper the virtual source technique is used to model propagation of waves in a range-dependent ocean overlying an elastic b...

Propagation of Waves at an Interface of Heat Conducting Elastic Solid and Micropolar Fluid Media

The present investigation is concerned with the reflection and transmission coefficients of plane waves at the interface of generalized thermoelastic solid half space and heat conducting micropolar fluid half- space. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves with various angle of incidence have been computed numerically and depicted graphically. Micropolarity and thermal r...

Numerical Solution of the Symmetric Water Impact of a Wedge Considering Dynamic Equations of Motion

In this research, numerical simulation of a symmetric impact of a 2-D wedge, considering dynamic equations in two-phase flow is taken into account. The two-phase flow around the wedge is solved based on finite volume method and volume of fluid (VOF) scheme. The dynamic mesh model is used to simulate dynamic motion of the wedge, thereby the effects of different dynamic meshes in both structured ...
